O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree
Woot! Christmas is just around the corner, so we're getting vaguely organised; we have a Christmas tree! Just waiting for my sister to arrive so that we can decorate it. It would have been organised last weekend but that required a bit of tidying up, so it didn't get done. I'll post a picture when it's dressed appropriately, it's quite a nekkid tree right now! :o

How good is Google?
Today I found an article about how unreliable Google is as a reference source. How people don't question where the information that it contains comes from. Did the page you found come from a reputable organisation or from some backyard hack? Take a look if you're interested.
The article also suggests other search engines such as Exalead and Gigablast. The irony of this? I "google-searched" the terms "gigablast" and "exalead" to find them!

Weeding photos :D
So here it is, the post you've all been waiting for . . .
Unfortunately, there's too many photos to post them all here, so the link to the slideshow is here.
This is by no means all of the photos, just all the ones we've uploaded so far. We still have about 4 CDs worth to save onto the computer first! I have selectively edited some of the photos too, as not all of the ones from the disposable cameras we used turned out.
Wait for the rest or check 'em out now! :D It's great having a day off, this is what I've spent most of today doing!

RIP Peabody
So, I said I'd try to update about once a week and here it is. So far, so good!
A few things have happened since I last posted. My mum rang on the weekend to say that she'd had to have our dog, Peabody, put down. He'd been ill for a while with a sinus infection which was grosser than gross. He had a huge swelling in his sinuses that made him look like a vampire from Buffy, and he snorted and sneezed blood and pus and mucous and it was really disgusting. So while the announcement wasn't unexpected, it did put a dampner on the day somewhat. I have a great photo of Peabody somewhere from when he was younger (he was about 14 before he died) which I will try to post a picture of when I find it.
In more happy news, I have started working again at the university for another Summer. I'm in Humanities and Social Sciences again and while I didn't start as soon as I would have liked, I'll now be working all the way through until semester 1 starts next year. After I finished working there in February this year, they appointed a lot of new full-time staff, so they had less need of casuals until the busy period starts. Well, it's not here just yet, but we begin re-enrolling nuffies who didn't do it online next Thursday, so it will be pretty full on after that!
Charles and I also picked up some work in the Burwood electoral office a couple of days before I started this blog. He was answering phones and I was doing data entry. It was a really good experience to see how the election works from the inside, even at State level. When I was in grade 6, we spent a whole term learning about how Parliament works in Australia. We even went on a school camp to Canberra for a week and got to meet our local MP, observe Question Time in the House of Reps and go ice-skating (where I subsequently broke my wrist)! It was actually a very interesting unit of SOSE. I remember really enjoying it at the time. Which is not to say that I remember a great deal about it now, so working for the election was a good reminder.
And finally, I have saved all the photos of our wedding from all the CDs that people have sent me so far onto my computer, now I just need to upload them somewhere so that I can send everyone the link. There are some really lovely shots of us and all our friends and family and our celebrant and the kids who came along and everyone. It was an awesome day (and night!) which I'm sure we'll remember for the rest of our lives. Everyone who came along said it was great, and that they had so much fun too, which is always great to hear when you're hosting a do and don't manage to get around to talk to everyone! I can't believe how fast the night went! And how little I actually drank! Although I did get to eat dinner, so that was a good start.

So, I sold out . . .
Howdy!
Basically, this blog is to keep my many and varied and far-flung relatives up to date on what's been happening in our lives lately, but for those of you I'm not related to:
G'day. I hope your stay is interesting and rewarding.
I'll admit it right here and now, I'm not really very good at blogging or journaling or whatever because I always forget to update things. But now that I've gone through the rigmarole of actually signing up (how many pages you wanna throw at me, Blogger?!), I had best make the effort to keep things moving along. But seeing as nothing interesting has happened to me yet today, I'll just have to toddle off and make it happen.
More updates later.
